Pros and cons of Zappar app for iPhone and iPad

Zappar app good for

One of the best apps Ive seen in a very long... Interactivity wise. Really eye-catching, needs to have more zapped activated images though. Really pleased with the animations too :D
This app is amazing. it interacts acts with the t shirt i bought. There are so many other kinds of t shirtsthat it works with and i plan on buying them. Great show off app
It would be nice if the next time you guys updated the Zappar app if you could add some Star Wars picture posters as well. If you guys could do that it would be very awesome of you all :)
This app is too cool, I just got the Muppets "Awesome Meter" t-shirt and it was so cool/fun to interact with y new shirt and see the meter move, 5 *s
My younger brother brought home 2 shirts that said to use this app. The AR is fun and interactive. The Batman one is cool, but Perry The Platypus is insane :)
Only got this for 1D Day but I dont care 5 STARS FOR ONE DIRECTION!

Some bad moments

I downloaded this app just now and zapped a code and when the yello zig zag downloads to yellow, my app crashed and i dont get to go any further !!!!! Please FIX!!
Had to download app, then content for the shirt, but the app only closes after tapping the zap button. Wasted time and disappointed my boys.
1. Add a camera flip icon to the Zap scanner. When my son wears his shirt, there is no way for him to see the capture animations. I bought the shirt so that HE could be WOWed by the app. Without the camera flip I am obligated to have the screen animations facing AWAY from the wearer (him). Without the wow effect, I might as well just put any old t-shirt on him and load any one of a dozen apps he likes to play and have at least the same effect. Also, users who are scanning product they are wearing have to scan blindly (holding the screen away), hoping they are capturing the content correctly. 2. Unlock the Zapped content for replay without rescanning the object. Otherwise I MUST have the purchased product(s) in hand in order to rescan and replay. If this is available, then it deserves to be documented better. So far it requires a rescan to relaunch any downloaded content. Without the unlocked replay ability the rewards of the app diminish sharply down to zero as soon as the shirt goes in the laundry (or isnt within scanning range). The reality is that users simply wont have all products on hand every time they want to use your app. Users who buy in based on this cool concept will quickly move on to something with easier replay ability. They paid money, why not let them keep the content? If youre wanting to build an empire of evangelizing users, you need to incent them beyond the initial conversion with loyalty benefits. Users will naturally promote apps/products/purchases that reward them, and avoid those that restrict/punish. Z. Other than that, the concept IS enough to get me to spend the few extra dollars on a t-shirt to give the app experience a try. Now you just have to keep me. The game difficulty is scaled down to an accurate level for the wearer of the product. My son (age 4) was able to play a several times in a row without frustration and with successful completion. He loved it. Keep up the good work. Keep tweaking it up. So 2 stars for age appropriate difficulty and good concept.
Why cant I find my Oozma kappa t shirt my shirt says It is there!
I have an IPod 4th gen and it doesnt work me and my cousins sat trying for THIRTY MINUTES trying to get it to work
This is obviously the brainchild of a bunch of marketing people whose job is to have you look at their stuff. They have no idea how to make a thing that someone would want to use. The idea is really compelling: clothes that you can scan. My kids were incredibly excited about it, only to watch us all struggle to use the stupid interface. Heres a laundry list of things that are wrong: • The person wearing the scannable clothing is the only person who CANT scan the clothing. Thats a massive duh. • You have to tell it what youre going to scan before you scan it. Another massive duh. You go into Apparel (this app needs to be usable by KIDS! My kids dont use the word Apparel! I had to tell them that meant clothing!), then you find the brand of the thing you want to scan, then you select the thing youre freaking wearing. Its 2013, there was NO way this app could figure out what it was scanning without being told? • Once you scan the thing, its interactive feature happens immediately. Remember how the person who is wearing the clothing is the one person who COULD NOT be holding the phone/ipad/etc? Well now that person is screaming "let me see!" • You never really "unlock" a feature because the only way to make the feature happen again is to scan the item, watch the video, and THEN interact with the micro-app thats built in. So the design of this thing is unbelievably bad. You know what we need? Think Shazam. One big flipping button in the middle of the screen. Hit it to scan. Have the app do all the thinking to figure out whether its scanning a hat, a shirt, a Marvel comic, a Disney character, etc. Then, have a separate tab somewhere to replay and interact again with the things youve unlocked. The reason I didnt give it 1 star is because the little micro-apps actually work and my kids like them. It DOES eventually scan and find the thing you told it it would find. It does sorta do what it says on the tin. It needs a LOT of work to make it an app thats enjoyable to use. Right now, its a chore my kids make me do.
